Whitewater Rafting Adventures opened its doors in 1980 to provide our guests with the opportunity to experience Whitewater rafting on the Lehigh River in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. Since that time, we’ve taken upwards of 250,000 people rafting, while expanding into other outdoor adventures, including paintball, kayaking, biking, & zip lining.
Whitewater Rafting Adventures is family owned & operated by Steve & his wife, Hilary. Steve started working for the company in 1996 parking cars on busy weekends, cutting grass and eventually refereeing paintball. After a few years he trained to become a River Guide and learned to kayak. Once on the water, he fell in love with it. Guiding became his main position & kayaking his favorite hobby, until leaving for his service in the U.S Army in 2005 where he served as an Infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division and completed two deployments to Iraq. After returning home from active duty in 2009, Steve was hired to be the General Manager and held that position until 2023 when he purchased the company. Hilary also has a long history with the company starting in 2001 when she briefly guided with Steve, until moving into an office position. Over the last 10 years she continues to manage the office & cafe.
Their son & daughter, Stephen III & Ebby, are also highly involved with the business. Stephen was a River Guide, Paintball Referee, & Zip Line operator. Like his father, he developed a strong passion for kayaking, which led him to becoming a member of Team USA and competing in the Jr. Wildwater World Championship in Czechia, 2022. Stephen is currently serving in the U.S Army, and plans on returning to the outdoor recreation industry, once his service is complete.
Ebby grew up immersed in the family business. She currently works in the kitchen, office, helps with social media and marketing, and is training to become a River Guide.
